Durante lo que va del año, he tenido la oportunidad de visitar la colonia de Cerro Pelón, pero mi hermano Pato Moreno que está arriba en la colonia cinco días a la semana nos ha comentado que en lo que va del año se ha sentido un cambio importante en las temperaturas, por las tardes la temperatura desciende y las noches son frías al igual que en las mañanas.

So far this year, I have had the opportunity to visit the Cerro Pelon colony, but my brother Pato Moreno, who is up at the colony five days a week, told us since the New Year he has noticed an important change in temperatures. Late in the afternoons the temperature drops and during the nights it is cold as well as in the mornings which is normal.

Western monarch reported sightings were few this week. Warming temperatures brought a change in monarch activity at the overwintering sites to share as 2022 continues to unfold.

The best places to bird in the Arb in the winter are around the periphery where the birds can go to feeders of home owners. The best Arb location is at Spring Trail Pond, aka the Duck Pond. I’ve been seeing about 120 Mallards on the pond thus the name.
