Girasoles, las flores que voltean al sol a medida que éste avanza durante el día, se han traído a su tumba en el cementerio del pueblo de Angangueo, localizado al pie de las montañas donde las mariposas Monarca hibernan cada año.

The Otomi, local indigenous people of Michoacán, refer to monarchs as our beloved ones and the daughters of the sun. We thought of our ancestors and monarchs as we placed Girasol flowers at the Monarch Butterfly Cemetery in Angangueo, a town located at the foothills of the monarch sanctuary.

El mes de enero termino y parece que la temperatura también se incrementó un poco. Durante la última semana de enero aun hacia frio, y los días estaban muy nublados. Por lo tanto no veíamos mucha actividad de las mariposas, aunque también obviamente es especial ver las mariposas haciendo lo que se supone tienen que hacer: descansar.

The month of January is over and it seems that the temperature has also increased a bit. During the last week of January it was still cold, and the days were very cloudy. So we didn't see much activity from the butterflies, although it's also obviously special to see the butterflies doing what they're supposed to do: resting.
