Hummingbirds in Winter

January 1, 2022 by Team Journey North
Keep reporting and photographing your observations of hummingbirds. Weekly news updates return in February.

Happy New Year

We celebrate January and all our volunteers who submit observations of hummingbirds to Journey North. Although we are taking a short hiatus from writing our weekly updates, hummingbirds are still active. We will share a few observations throughout January and February on our website and social media channels. Stay tuned.

How are climate change and habitat disruptions impacting non-breeding winter ranges of hummingbirds? Your observations may help answer this question and many others. We welcome sightings from Mexico and Central America and across the U.S. and Canada during the months of January and February. Please keep reporting your observations.

If you don't see any hummingbirds in your area, you can always brush up on your hummingbird identification skills and explore information on hummingbird migration and annual cycles
